Kinetic Sculptures to understand Rigid Body Motion
As a part of the final project for an undergraduate level mechanical engineering course in Mechanics, the students were asked to independently fabricate a functional mechanical device, produce equations of the moving system in two dimensions and develop a mathematical model to predict the motion of one component of their model as a function of another parameter.
With Prof. K. Wendell's guidance, I worked on making a reference for the students. I used the Hex-Flex sculpture for doing so.
